How do I use an unlocked Blackberry Pearl with a T-Mobile account?

I bought an unlocked Blackberry Pearl on Ebay, and it is supposedly compatible with T-Mobile. The seller states that all I need to do is put the SIM card from my old phone into the Blackberry, and it will work fine. Does anyone know if this is correct, and has anyone had success buying unlocked phones on Ebay?

I bought a blackberry to use with Verizon and it worked fine. You just switch the SIM card and then call T-Mobile and have them switch the ESN. Hope that helps.
yes it is true, the only thing i found very in-convenient is, if you have trouble with the phone that you purchased (un-locked phone) you cant get it serviced through you current carrier, you need to contact the seller on e-bay…..
If the phone is unlocked, yes you will be able to put your SIM card in and have voice/sms service. However to get the full use (t-zones, mms, fav5, etc) you will need to load the t-mobile software.
Go to: http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/
You will be asked for your t-mobile phone number, then you can download the software. Download the desktop manager and the Handheld software. Install both.
If the Blackberry wasn’t originally a t-mobile device(ex, AT&T) delete the vendor.xml file from your computer. It is located at C:Program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader
Once you have done all this, plug your blackberry into your computer via usb and run the desktop manager/application loader. This will install the t-mobile OS and you should be good to go!
