How to read Blackberry Messages without reader knowing?

I have a blackberry javelin. Someone told me that there is a way to read the blackberry messages (BBMs) without the sender knowing that you read it. How do you do this?

I believe you were given incorrect information because once you scroll to the message and read it. the icon next to it changes from a “D” for delivered to “R” for read.. so the reader will know.
The only way I can think of is for you to not scroll up to the msg, simply open their user name and read it.
The R is not Read it is received. It simply states it made it to the device, not that it has been read by the end user.
