Is blackberry messenger free if you already have a data plan?

I have a Blackberry with Verizon. When I use certain instant messengers such as AOL it counts as SMS texts, but I have been reading here that if you use Blackberry Messenger no matter what service you have that they won’t count as a SMS text. Is this true?

i think so, it depends on the local plan that you use… i think that it should be free. or included in the bills.

Yes, it’s true. BB Messenger uses data. So technically you’re paying for the data, so it’s not completely free. You’re able to use it with the data plan, so you should be fine. :]
Yes – all BlackBerry to BlackBerry messaging is included in your BlackBerry data plan. You can not run the BlackBerry messenger app without a BB data plan so this essentially means you will have no extra charges on your account for BBM use.
