Loving My Blackberry | Blackberry and accessories

Almost a year ago, we were planning a trip to Marseilles, France, last June, so we began looking at new phones. My husband wanted to upgrade his phone; however, I was okay with my phone. We made a trip together to the local Verizon store where they were promoting a special at the time: buy one BlackBerry, get one free! Wow! So I began checking the BlackBerry out. Was I impressed!

I loved the easy access to my email messages – often receiving them before they went to my home/work computers! What a treat to be able to respond to an email inquiry right away instead of having to wait until I was in front of my computer! You can send, receive, forward and reply to your messages immediately if you want. This is called a wireless extension of your email mailbox. How convenient!

The digital camera was very easy to use and a snap to send your photo to a loved one immediately. Our first grandchild had just been adopted and I was sending photos as fast as I could send them. What fun!

Instant messaging was another feature that I hadn’t really used before and had no intention of using. But when our granddaughter came along, there were so many quick updates that I just had to make sure my friends knew about! They needed to know when she came home from the hospital, smiled the first time, wrapped her little finger tightly around mine…just so many things others needed to be aware of! What a delight to share little messages quickly!

The Bluetooth accessory is a must-have in our city. You can incur heavy fines if you’re caught holding and talking on a phone by our local law enforcement folks. The Bluetooth was easy to hook-up and even easier to use, making hands-free calling very practical. Before I used the Bluetooth, my arm would go to sleep while propping my phone up to my ear and driving with the other hand. No more with the Bluetooth. This feature can also be used to stream music wirelessly to your speakers. I highly recommend getting this accessory regardless of your laws. It’s just such a useful tool – especially for those long commutes!

The favorite thing I love about my BlackBerry is the Address Book or Contacts. Talk about being practical and useful! It’s the best I’ve seen. The contacts reflect all the information that I have in Microsoft Outlook. The BlackBerry not only includes all the phone numbers, but all the address information and notes. Often I will tuck directions to a friend’s home in the notes section of my Outlook file and these are also stored on my BlackBerry. Email addresses are easily accessed – so you can send someone a quick email even if you are on the run! Often in my notes, as I discover someone’s birthday or things they collect, I’ll enter it in their record, so I have it – without having to worry about losing that napkin or sheet of paper misplaced in my bag. Another thing I love about the Address Book or Contacts is that it’s easy to synchronize with my home/work computers. All I have to do is plug it in, hit the synchronize icon and it’s ready to go in less than a minute. I generally consider myself to be electronically challenged, but the BlackBerry makes it easy for me to stay organized and in touch.

Another great feature is the Calendar on the BlackBerry. As with the Address Book or Contacts, the Calendar can be updated very easily! Each appointment may contain a subject, location, date, start time, end time, whether it will be a regular or recurring event as well as any notes you want to add. When an appointment is calendared, then you can include a reminder and set it for when you would like to jog your memory with a signal or tone. Again, like the Address Book or Contacts, you can synchronize your home/work computers’ calendars with your Blackberry by plugging it in, press the synchronize icon and wait just a few seconds for the update to happen. So both your home/work computers and your BlackBerry have the same current information.

If you’re considering a Smartphone, I would highly recommend the BlackBerry! I’ve never had a phone that I loved more than the BlackBerry!
